Visitors of Morocco drop by 2.1% in 1st quarter of 2003

Morocco received in the first quarter of 2003 1.03 million foreign visitors, a drop of 2.1% compared to the same period of 2002.
According to the general economic policy department, the decrease was most reported among German nationals (29%), followed by Saudis (28.9%) and Britons (8.1%). Meanwhile tourists coming from France and Spain increased respectively by 3.3% and 3.4%.
The source also says tourism hard currency receipts reached 14.7 billion DH (US$ 1.5 billion) in the first half of 2003, up by 4.3% in comparison with the same period of last year.
