Syrian ministers confer with British defense studies Delegation
Syria-UK, Politics, 9/30/2003

Syria's Minister of Higher Education Hani Murtada and Minister of Expatriates Butheina Shaaban in Damascus on Monday met a delegation of the Royal Academic of the British Defense Studies chaired by Major General Roger Lockwood.

Talks during the meeting dealt with the progress Syria witnesses, particularly in the field of modernizing laws and legislations that could help economic development in Syria.

Talks also dealt with the situation in the Palestinian occupied territories and the aggressions perpetrated by the Israeli occupation troops against them.

Both sides called on the international community to exert pressures on Israel to halt such practices and to achieve just and comprehensive peace in the region.

SANA said "They also reviewed the situation in Iraq calling for finding immediate solutions to halt the US occupation to Iraq until Iraqis restore their role in the Arab and International communities."
