First Arab-US Economic Forum opens today

Arab League (AL) Secretary General Amr Moussa left yesterday for Detroit to open the first Arab-American Economic Forum, which the Arab-American organisations in the US have arranged in cooperation with the AL.
The AL Chief will give an opening speech in the forum which opens today.
Moussa is expected to review the Arab vision on the future of Arab-US ties in view of recent global and regional political and economic developments which in turn reflect on the course of ties between the Arabs and the US, taking into account the interests of both sides," Counsellor Hossam Zaki, Head of the Information Office of the AL Chief said in an interview with the Middle East News Agency (MENA).
The two-day forum, which will be attended by the US Secretary of State and foreign ministers of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Sudan, Yemen and Oman, will discuss economic issues related to Arab-US economic cooperation and other topics related to public health, communications, education, youth and women.
The US side will be represented by the biggest governmental and non-governmental firms and organisations.
The forum will end on Tuesday, when Moussa will deliver a concluding speech on the salient points raised in the forum.
