Failed attempt to assassinate Yemeni parliamentarian

An attempt was foiled yesterday to assassinate the Yemeni parliament member for the ruling party Nabil Sadeq al-Basha by unidentified persons in Samara area in Ab province, 90 Km to the south of the capital Sanaa.
The people general congress party in Yemen said that "preliminary information indicate that unidentified persons opened fire at the car which was carrying al-Basha who was on his way to Sanaa."
The party explained that "al-Basha guards retaliated by opening fire and the attack was confronted by intensive bullets fire at the attackers." The party quoted security sources as saying that "the fire exchanged lasted for several hours until security reinforcement arrived in the area and some of the attackers were arrested" noting they "were interrogated in Ab province."
The security source explained that the security department arrested two of the attackers. Nabil Sadeq al-Basha is a member of the ruling general people's congress party and one of its members at the parliament.
