Riyadh hands over Sanaa 9 Yemenis involved in 'Limburg' incident
Saudi Arabia-Yemen, Local, 9/25/2003

The Saudi Arabian authorities yesterday handed over the Yemeni authorities nine Yemenis detained in the kingdom for security issues including certain persons in the case of blowing the French oil tanker Limburg.

According to the Saudi ministry of the interior, the handing over operation "comes in the course of coordination and security cooperation between the security authorities in the Kingdom and Yemen." A Yemeni official said that three persons among those handed over to Sanaa are suspected to have links to the case of "Limburg" which was blown up in 2002.

Riyadh and Sanaa reinforced their security cooperation since two years. On September 17 Sanaa handed over to Riyadh Bander al-Ghamimdi, who is accused in being involved in the attacks of May 12 in Riyadh that resulted in killing 35 persons.

Simultaneously, the Yemeni police arrested Yemeni Islamists including one activist in Aden Abyan Islamic army which is accused of "several terrorist operations " and of being linked to al-Qaida organization.

The two Yemenis were arrested on September 17 in Abyan province, situated to the southern of Sanaa.
