Two incidents violate the Saudi national day; Three Islamists killed, hostages in Jeizan
While celebrating its National Day yesterday, Saudi Arabia witnessed two remarkable security incidents. The first was the killing of four persons in a clash in the southern area of Jeizan between the security forces and armed Islamists, in an incident during which hostages were held in a hospital. The second incident was the besiege of the house of the reform activist Abdul Aziz al-Tayyar and detaining him.

The Interim Governing Council in Iraq decided yesterday to ban the correspondents of al-Jazeera and al-Arabia TV stations from covering news of official activities of the council for two weeks, threatening the possibility of closing the offices of the two channels as a punishment for them over what the council described as "biased media coverage under the pretext of broadcasting messages for the toppled Iraqi president Saddam Hussein and other messages for groups threatened to target members of the council."

Half of the Iraqis in need of food aid
The United Nations Food and Agriculture organization FAO said that almost half of the Iraqis estimated at 26 million are in need of humanitarian aid in order to avoid hunger despite the improvement of agricultural crops in the country since the end of military operations which were led by the American and British forces who invaded Iraq in March.
