Regional-Spain, Politics, 9/24/2003

The Spanish daily La Fangardia said yesterday quoting sources at the Federal Bureau for Investigation and the Spanish police that the FBI accused al-Jazeera TV correspondent Teiseir Allouni that he is responsible for campaigning for al-Qaida organization.

The paper said that Allouni who was detained on September 5th near Granada will be presented today, September 24 before judge Paltsar Ghartoun in Madrid " is responsible for campaigning to al-Qaida in Europe and the USA." The sources added that these accusations were stated in the FBI report and replying to a question. The Spanish police refused to comment on these information.

The accusation decision relating to Allouni indicated that the Spanish judiciary is waiting -- following an international judiciary reporting sent to the USA.
