Eight Iranians killed in land mine explosion on border with Iraq
Iraq-Iran, Politics, 9/23/2003
The official Iranian news agency said yesterday that a land mine killed 8 Iranians while trying to sneak through the Iranian borders with Iraq on Sunday to visit the religious shrines.
The agency quoted the said official as saying that the 8 Iranians were trying to sneak from Karminshah district, where more than other 140 Iranians were trying to cross the border illegally in the past 4 weeks.
The agency said in August that during 7 weeks, some 110 Iranians died while making their dangerous journey because of mines, the very hot weather, and the highjackers.
