UK offer to Iran to stay in the nuclear non proliferation treaty
Iran-Regional, Politics, 9/20/2003

A New York Times report said that Britain, and other European countries made offers to Iran to accept tougher U.N. inspections of its nuclear program in return for assistance.

The UK is seen by some to be playing the role of a mole within Europe for the US in a "good cop - bad cop" routine to get Iran not to leave the Nuclear Non-Proliferations Treaty.

France said "We consider the nuclear nonproliferation treaty is an absolutely fundamental instrument and the objective is that all the states which make up the international community should accede to it, and that goes for all the regions in the world, the one you cited and others. For it to be fully effective, clearly the objective has to be the accession of countries 100%."
