Al-Rai al-Am: Shalom Silvan: Shebaa farms are Syrians
Israel-Lebanon, Politics, 9/18/2003

IsraelŐs foreign minister Shalom Silvan said that the occupied Shebaa farms are not Lebanese territories, and Israel will occupy it until an agreement is reached with Syria concerning it.

In a statements published today by the Kuwaiti daily al-Rai al-Am, Silvan said that Shebaa farms "are Syrian lands since 1967 and not Lebanese .. and that Hizbullah has used the issue of Shebaa farms to justify launching its attacks. We will remain in these farms until we reach a solution with Syria."

On exchanging prisoners with Hizbullah, Silvan said "the mediating side was Germany. The secretary general of the Hizbullah Party Hassan Nasrullah thought throughout years that he can get the prisoners for just giving us information. But he was not realistic, and I think a change is made in his position for the first time because he is resorting to the language of logic."

Dhaloum tried to justify the Israeli violations of the Lebanese airspace in that Hizbullah "since our withdrawal from Lebanon doubled the number of missiles it has coming from Iran, and since three years the party built fixed stations for these missiles, and we fear that in future it will reach the depth of Israel."
