Majlis A'Shura reviews salary, gratuity and education issues

"Majlis A'Shura office today held its 11th regular meeting of the year under the chairmanship of Sheikh Abdullah bin Ali al-Qatabi, President of the Majlis," Oman's official news agency ONA reported yesterday.

It said: "On the activities of the Majlis committees to complete their work in the remaining of the current term the legal committee approved its final report on its study of the topic after service salary and gratuity law for government employees (Omanis) issued by Royal Decree No. 26/86 and based on that it decided to refer it to the Majlis office to list it on the agenda of the fourth ordinary session of the Majlis scheduled in forthcoming October."

The report said "During the fifth ordinary meeting of the committee of the year chaired by Khalid bin Omar al-Marhoon, committee chairman, members of the committee reviewed the final draft of the committee and after extensive and long discussions several amendments and notes were introduced to the report."

The report said "In the same context, the education and culture committee presented its memo to the Majlis which included a summary of outcome reached by the committee on studying the follow up application of basic education and teaching computer in general public education schools."

Meantime, ONA said the media committee of the Majlis " discussed what has been achieved from the media aspect with regard to elections process in terms of press advertisements, preparing a documentary film, awareness seminars as well as opening a website on the internet aimed to encourage and stimulate electorates to polling boxes and other information matters related to Majlis AÕshura elections which will take place on October 4th."
