Lahoud: Syrian- Lebanese experience an example to be followed
Lebanon-Syria, Politics, 9/15/2003

Lebanese President Emile Lahoud has stressed that the Syrian- Lebanese experience of solidarity is a example that could be followed.

Receiving a delegation representing the General Secretariat of the Arab National Conference in Beirut, Lahoud underlined that the Syrian- Lebanese unity caused the liberation of the biggest part of the South Lebanon from the Israeli occupation.

He indicated that the two states' stance regarding the Arab- Israeli conflict has an active effect on the countries that adopted the Syrian- Lebanese position concerning the necessity for the implementation of the international resolutions in order to realize just and comprehensive peace in the region.

The Lebanese president held Israel responsible for the undermining of the international initiatives aiming at reducing tension in the region.

He pointed out that Lebanon refused to attribute the terrorist acts to the legal resistance.

For his part, the delegation expressed appreciation over Lahoud's national and pan- Arab stances.
