Sentence in attorney's terrorism suspicion case expected next week
Morocco, Local, 9/12/2003

The court of appeal of Casablanca said it will deliver on September 16 its sentence in the case of Ahmed Filali Azmir, an attorney accused of being involved in preparing the terrorist attacks that hit Casablanca last May.

Azmir and three codefendants are sued for activism with the underground Islamic extremist group of "Salfia Jihadia."

The court accepted to summon witnesses requested by the defense, including the police officer who wrote the minutes.

One of Azmir's codefendants, Abdelkbir Goumra, denied all the charges held against them.

The court also decided to join to the case the trial minutes of Mohammed Damir who was sentenced last July to capital punishment, along with Youssef Fikri, Saleh Zarli, Abderrazak Faouzi, Kamal Hanouichi, Bouchaib Guermach, Lakbir Koutoubi, Bouchaib Mghader, Omar Maarouf and Laarbi Daqiq, for involvement in the Casablanca terrorist attacks.
