Morocco on the right path for the World Cup Organization, CONCACAF chairman
Morocco-Regional, Sports, 9/11/2003

Morocco is on the "right path" in its drive to host the 2010 world soccer cup, chairman of Central, North American and Caribbean Football Confederation (CONCACAF), Jack Austin Warner, said here on Wednesday.

"Since I led foot in the airport I noticed that there were lots of changes compared to the previous times" when Morocco was candidate for the world cup, Warner told the press.

Warner, member of the FIFA executive committee since 1982, highlighted the efforts of the official in charge of Morocco's bid for the world cup, Saad Kettani, underscoring that Morocco enjoys all assets to win the world cup bid. He added, nonetheless, that "if Morocco does not win this time, it does not mean to give up once and for all"

Warner, who refused to make a judgment about Morocco's candidacy dossier, noted that the north African country is prepared more than ever before. "Morocco's strategic location, particularly its proximity to Europe, is an "asset" for the kingdom, he said, adding, however, that the distance is not the only "decisive and determining" factor.

In addition to Morocco, South Africa, Nigeria, Egypt, Libya and Tunisia are candidates to host the 2010 world cup.
