Local polls: woman-candidate without husband's knowledge gets divorce

A man living in Fez was astonished to see his wife's picture among candidates for next Friday's local elections and judged the insubordination serious enough to divorce her.

According to "Al Ahdath Al Maghribia" daily, the man was sipping a cup of coffee at a caf? terrace when he saw the picture of his wife as a candidate for the local polls.

The unfortunate woman tried to explain that candidacy was submitted without her own knowledge, but the man, skeptical, thought the "felony" was serious enough to divorce his wife and let her run alone for elections.
