Rieti Meets: Morocco's El Guerrouj wins mile race

Moroccan 1,500m four-time world champion, Hicham El Guerrouj, won Sunday the Mile race (1,609m) at the Rieti athletic meets in Italy
El Guerrouj, also 5,000m vice-world world champion, ran the distance in 3'50"20 past Kenya's Alex Kipchirchir (3'50"25) and Robert Rono (3'50"98).
"I was really exhausted. After the World championships in Paris and the Brussels Meets, I only decided to run out of respect for the public, said El Guerrouj who failed to break his own record on the distance.
