Al-Shara holds talks with Kharazi

An official session of talks was held in Damascus on Monday between Syria's Foreign Minister Farouk al-Shara and his Iranian counterpart, Kamal Kharazi.
Talks during the meeting focused on the latest developments in the region particularly in Iraq and in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Both sides' viewpoints were similar regarding "Israel's responsibility for the deteriorating situation in the Palestinian territories due to its anti-peace and aggressive policy."
Regarding Iraq, both sides stressed the necessity for a main role to the UN and to Iraq's neighboring states for the achievement of stability in Iraq.
Both sides underlined the necessity for the occupation troops withdrawal from Iraq and restoration of the Iraqi sovereignty through a legitimate government that emerges from the free choice of the Iraqi people.
The distinguished friendly relations between Syria and Iran were also reviewed during the meeting. In a statement to reporters, Kharazi described his talks with President Bashar Al-Assad and al-Shara as "very good and important."
Kaharazi stressed that developments on the Iraqi arena will affect on Iraq's neighboring countries pointing out that the Iraqi government should win the Iraqi people' support and express their will.
He pointed out that the Iraqis must manage their affairs under the United Nations' supervision.
Meantime, "Just and comprehensive peace can't be realized in the light of the continued Israeli aggression on the Palestinian people'' Kharazi said asserting that any peace project will not succeed if it doesn't take into consideration the Palestinian people's legitimate rights.
Kharazi stressed the necessity for the continuous coordination between Syria and Iran in the light of the successive developments which the region witnesses.
