Mrs. Al-Assad opens Woman and Investment forum
Syria, Economics, 9/8/2003

Under the patronage of Syria's First Lady Asmaa al-Assad the Economic Forum of the Woman "Woman and Investment"was opened in Aleppo yesterday. Mrs. al- Assad attended the opening session and the speeches delivered on behalf of the committee of the businesswomen at chambers of commerce and industry in Aleppo.

She also visited the exhibition of the Syrian and the Arab businesswomen's products and the documentary pavilion about the history of trade in Syria which is organized on the sideline of the forum.

Participants in the forum stressed the importance of developing woman's participation in economic development and asserted the active role of woman in encouraging investment through national projects which reflect the woman's capacities to contribute in progress.

Participants at the forum are experts from Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan, Tunis, Morocco and Syria.

The forum is organized by the businesswomen committees at chambers of commerce and trade in Aleppo.
