Arab states loses annual $1.5 billion in brain drain

The Arab states lose 1.5 billion dollars each year in brain drain, according to study published Monday in the Egyptian press
The study, conducted by an Egyptian research center on the future of development in the Arab world and brain drain consequences, says Arab countries lose annually 50% of medical doctors, 23% of engineers and 15% of scientists in different areas, who emigrate mainly in Europe, the United States and Canada.
Arab doctors represent 31% of Britain's doctors, the study goes, stressing that the United States, Canada and GB altogether receive 75% of Arab scientific competencies, and that during the seventies, the Arab world had sustained 11 billion dollar in losses caused by the phenomenon.
The document attributes the phenomenon to political, economic, social and personal considerations.
