ICRC calls for immediate release of all Moroccans detained in Tindouf
Algeria-Morocco, Politics, 9/3/2003
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on Monday reiterated its call for the "immediate" release of hundreds of Moroccans detained by the "Polisario" in the Tindouf camps (southeastern Algeria).
"Currently, 914 others (prisoners) are still deprived of their freedom, and over half of them have been held for more than 20 years," the ICRC said in a release following the repatriation of 243 Moroccan prisoners.
"The ICRC, the release goes, is concerned about the deteriorating health of those still in captivity and once again appeals for their immediate release, in accordance with international humanitarian law."
