Syria for enhancing parliamentary relations with Cyprus

Parliament Speaker Naji Otari received in Damascus on Tuesday Cypriot Foreign Minister Georgios Iacovou and an accompanying delegation.
Talks during the meeting dealt with the historical relations between the two friendly countries and the distinguished relations between the two countries' Parliaments.
Cyprus's role between the European Union and the region, the situation in Iraq and in the occupied Palestinian territories were also reviewed during the meeting.
Otri underlined the deep-rooted historical relations between Syria and Cyprus.
He lauded Cyprus support to the Arab just causes stressing Syria's firm principled stance regarding realizing peace process in the region in accordance with the international resolutions.
For his part, Iacovou stressed Cyprus care for participation in solving the region's problems through the European Union which Cyprus will join to next May.
