Al-Assad confers with German officials on ME issues

Syria's President Bashar al-Assad received in Damascus on Tuesday Chairman of the Foreign Policy Committee in the German Parliament, Volker Rohi and an accompanying delegation.
Talks during the meeting dealt with the relations between the Syrian and German Parliaments and ways of boosting them.
The situation in Iraq and Europe's role in helping Iraq to overcome its crisis were also reviewed during the meeting.
President al-Assad stressed Syria's readiness to offer the necessary help to the Iraqi people stressing on the UN role in Iraq.
Al-Assad pointed out Syria's care for the Iraqi people to manage their affairs by themselves as soon as possible.
