El Guerrouj elected member of IAAF Athletics Commission

Four-time World 1500-M champ, Hisham El Guerrouj, was elected member of the athletes commission of the World Athletics governing body (IAAF), the federation said Saturday.
El Guerrouj won 654 votes to sit in the commission for a four-year mandate.
Twelve out of the 26 athletes who made their candidacies were elected while seven will be appointed by the IAAF council.
The Moroccan athlete captured in the 9th world track and field championships held last week in Paris a gold and a silver medal respectively on the 1,500 m and 5,000 m.
