Morocco, Syria set up business council
Morocco-Syria, Economics, 9/2/2003
The Moroccan and Syrian employers federation, respectively the general confederation of Morocco's enterprises (CGEM) and the general union of trade chambers in Syria, set up in Casablanca this Monday a joint business council.
Under the convention creating the council, the two associations undertake to develop business partnership in a wide array of fields including industry, trade, tourism, agriculture, transport and insurance.
Exchanging expertise and visits between Arab and Syrian economic operators in order to promote economic and trade relations between the two countries and trading skills in state-of-the-art technology are among the provisions of the convention.
The convention was signed on the fringes of an encounter between Moroccan and Syrian economic operators, who looked into partnership opportunities.
The Syrian delegation, led by industry minister Issam al-Zaeem, includes businessmen operating in agro-food, textile, chemistry, tourism, finance, telecommunications and processing industries.
