Berri underlines the importance of relations with Syria

Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament Nabih Berri indicated that Syria forms a necessity for Lebanon to enable it to consolidate its stability and security.

In a celebration in Baalbeck yesterday, he addressed the audience by saying that "the cooperation and coordination between Syria and Lebanon surpassed its goals -- of fighting the Israeli enemy -- to strategic goals."

For his part, the Lebanese Mufti Sheikh Mohammed Rashid Kabani expressed appreciation over the Syrian support to Lebanon in its struggle against the Israeli enemy and defeating it in the South Lebanon and al-Beqaa.

Deputy Chairman of the Islamic Shiite Higher Council, and the Excellent Jaafari Mufti, Sheikh, Abdulamir Kabalan called for "putting a unified Arab strategy to face Israel."

For his part, Maronite Patriarch Nasrallah Sfair stressed the importance of the distinguished Syrian - Lebanese relations, pointing out to the necessity for boosting these relations.
