Kuwait backs Iraq's representation at Arab foreign ministers meeting

Kuwait's representative to the Arab League AL Ahmad Khaled al-Kleib announced yesterday that his country backs to have Iraq being represented at the meetings of the Arab foreign ministers due to be held on September 9 and 10 at the headquarters of the Arab League in Cairo.

The Kuwaiti diplomat remarked that his country support the participation of the Iraqi Interim governing council in the meeting, not naming it directly, especially as several Arab states including Egypt, do not recognize the said council as legal.

Al-Kleib said that Kuwait supports to have Iraq represented and taking part in the meetings of the next Arab foreign ministers meetings." He added "Kuwait's position of the Iraqi representation is based on the recent resolution of the UN security council no. 1500 concerning Iraq."
