Egypt's reading for all to be generalized in the Arab states
Regional-Egypt, Education, 8/30/2003
With the success of "Reading for All" project which made available many as variant as precious books at low prices for the last thirteen years, the Egyptian experience is to lease life into the Arab cultural scene with a similar larger plan, a cultural official said on Friday.
The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) has set up a plan to generalize the idea through the "Arab Family Library" project in which 100 titles are to be published and distributed across Arab countries in the first year, Head of the General Egyptian Book Organization (GEBO) Samir Sarhan told MENA Friday.
The plan comes at a critical juncture, as Arab culture and identity are under mounting pressures including interference into educational methods adopted by Arab countries, said Sarhan.
