One Israeli settler killed, wife injured in attack; Israeli forces prevent worshipper from al-Aqsa mosque
Palestine-Israel, Military, 8/30/2003
Al-Aqsa brigade groups of the Fatah movement have retaliated the Israeli raid against Gaza and attacked an Israeli car for settlers near Ramullah where this attack resulted in killing one settler and wounding his wife, while the Israeli occupation forces banned scores of Palestinians from having access to the al-Aqsa mosque to perform their Friday's prayers.
The Israeli settler was killed and his wife was strongly wounded when the Palestinians opened fire at the car carrying them to the north of Ramullah.
Al-Aqsa martyrs brigade claimed responsibility for the operation. It said in a statement that "a group of martyr Muhannad Abu Halaweh implanted an ambush on the road leading to Rimonim settlement near al-Magheir village to the north of Ramullah and when a car for settlers passed by our fighters opened machine gun fires at the car and this resulted in damaging it and killing or wounding its passengers." This operation came in retaliation of Israel's assassination earlier Hamdi Kalakh, member of the Hamas movement in an operation carried out by the Israeli forces in Gaza on Thursday.
Meantime, an Israeli official source said that a large Israeli military force backed by armored vehicles broke into the city of Jenin for the second time few hours after its withdrawal from it. Witnesses said that more than 15 military vehicles broke into the downtown of the city from several sides and started to open fire randomly.
Palestinian sources said the Israeli army clashed with several Palestinian fighters but no casualties were reported in the two sides. The sources added that a group of Palestinian fighters besieged an Israeli force in a house it had confiscated earlier. The sources outlined that violent clashes took place in the site of the explosion and this resulted in casualties in the lines of the Israeli force which pulled out from the site.
