Prince Moulay Rachid chairs closing ceremony of summer camps
Morocco, Culture, 8/28/2003

Morocco's Prince Moulay Rachid chaired in Ifrane on Tuesday afternoon the closing ceremony of summer camps that are part of a campaign dubbed "Holidays for All."

The campaign, launched by the secretariat of state in charge of the Youth from July 2 to September 3, aimed to allow some 100.000 children and young people enjoy summer camps.

The initiative is a recognition of children's right to have fun and enjoy the holidays. Handicapped children and those of poor families benefited from a particular attention in this campaign.

A girl participating in summer camps read out a speech on behalf of the 100,000 young people who were part of the campaign wherein she said "Holidays for All" was a chance for integration and communication, a space for citizenship and nationalism and a school of commitment and voluntary help.

The operation was successful thanks to the high solicitude of King Mohammed VI, who made childhood and the Youth among the pillars of the social, democratic and modernist project in the kingdom, she said.

On the occasion, the children taking part in the summer camps sang and danced under the sign of the "new era." At the end of the ceremony, they presented a commemorative plaque of "Holidays for All" and a painting to prince Moulay Rachid.
