World Youth Congress delegation takes part in social activities in southern Morocco

A delegation of participants in the World Youth Congress are participating in social activities and in workshops in Laayoune, major city in the Moroccan Sahara.

The delegation took part in association actions concerning income-generating social projects. It also inquired about economic, social and cultural projects in addition to local associations' works as regards women promotion and children protection.

As for the workshops, the young delegation members prepared decorations with the use of local products and made artistic works that highlight the objectives of the theme of the Youth Congress, namely "the promotion of actions of the youth for tolerance, solidarity and sustained development."

The young people, from different countries, used their skill and know-how to carry out several projects part of open workshops set up in several locations in the city.

On Sunday, they organized a cleaning campaign in the beach of Foum El Oued (20 Km west of Laayoune) as an initiative to thank the inhabitants of the city for their hospitality.

In another southern Moroccan city, Dakhla, a delegation is participating in other workshops part of the priorities set by the congress, most importantly poverty, food-security, fighting AIDS and illiteracy, health, the promotion of cultural and sports activities and gender equality.

The congress which is held this August 16-28 brings together more than 800 young delegates aged 15 to 25. They are participating in more than 120 sustainable development projects all over Morocco part of the proximity policy.
