Regional-Iraq, Politics, 8/27/2003
The secretary general of the Arab League (AL) Amr Moussa yesterday sent urgent messages to the Arab foreign ministers concerning the request of the transitional governing council in Iraq to take part in the meetings of the AL.
In his message, Moussa asked the Arab foreign ministers to notify the AL general secretariat of their country's stances concerning this request so as the matter will be settled before the beginning of the meetings of the AL council on September 9th.
The Iraqi transitional council delegation had visited Egypt two days before and met with the secretary general Moussa and asked him to agree to the council's participation in the meetings of the AL council and to occupy Iraq's seat in it.
