Israel and the Iraqi oil pipelines
Iraq-Israel, Politics, 8/26/2003
Israeli sources disclosed that the Israeli minister of infrastructure Yosef Paritzki will discuss during his forthcoming visit to Washington the possibility of reopening the oil pipeline which used to link the Iraqi city of Karkouk to Haifa port before 1948.
News reports quoted the spokesman for the Israeli minister as saying yesterday that there is no fixed plan in this regard at this phase, but the situation related to a draft proposal, noting that the Israeli minister had asked in April drawing a feasibility study on the possibility of reopening the oil pipeline which is currently obstructed.
The Iraqi official who is responsible for running the affairs of the Iraqi oil ministry Thamer Ghadban stressed that the ministry has no plans to reopen Karkouk- Haifa oil pipeline.
