Israel hands over Hizbullah two bodies of its fighters
Syria-Lebanon, Politics, 8/26/2003

The Lebanese Hizbullah Party announced it had received, yesterday the bodies of two of its fighters, held by Israel in an operation for prisoners exchange between the two sides.

An official source in the party said that the bodies of the two martyrs Ammar Hussein Hammaoud and Ghassan Zaatar were handed over to the party by the International Committee of the Red Cross in al-Naqoura town on the Lebanese- Syrian borders.

The secretary general of the Hizbullah party Hassan Nasrullah said that restoring back the bodies comes in the course of revitalizing current negotiations via Germany to exchange prisoners. He expressed his hope that this mediation will achieve optimum results. Nasrullah had, several days ago, threatened to resume military acts of the Hizbullah Party against Israel in case Tel Aviv is persistent to reject responding to the German initiative concerning the exchange of prisoners.

Worthy mentioning that Ghassan Zaatar was killed in clashes with the Israeli occupation forces in al-Tuffah district in 1998 while Hussein Hammoud was killed in December 1999 during an operation that targeted an Israeli military procession in south Lebanon.

This was among the recent operations carried out by the fighters of Hizbullah Party against targets for the Israeli occupation army before its withdrawal from the occupied part of south Lebanon in May, 2000.
