Israel assassinates Ismael Abu Shanab; Hamas: no use for truce

The Islamic resistance movement Hamas stressed the killing of Ismael Abu Shanab, its prominent key figure in addition to two of his escorts in an Israeli missiles targeting his car in Gaza.

Witnesses said that US made Israeli helicopters of Apache type fired intensive number of missiles at Abu Shanab's car and this resulted in its complete burning. Ambulances hurried to the site and transported the three murdered men to al-Shefaa hospital in Gaza.

In one of its reaction to the aggression, Hamas announced it is no longer committed to the truce announced by the main Palestinian groups and threatened to retaliate. This attack comes after the Israeli government approved a series of large scale operation against activists of the Hamas and the Islamic Jihad movements.

The Israeli side said that the raid comes in the framework of retaliation to the operation carried out by a Palestinian from Ezz Eddine al-Qassam group, the military wing of the Hamas movement in occupied Jerusalem, two days earlier and resulted in killing and wounding scores of Israelis.

The Israeli forces escalated its aggressions against the Palestinian cities and areas following the Palestinian operation. The Israeli forces invaded yesterday at dawn several cities in the West Bank and its camps and villages, and carried out a campaign of arrest and detention during which two Palestinian teens were killed and several others wounded at Toulkarem camp for the Palestinian refugees.

News reports said that the Israeli forces reoccupied the city of Nablus and its camps and imposed curfew on them with support from tanks and planes, and these forces cordoned the entrances of the old town and carried out random acts of arrest that targeted so far more than 100 Palestinians.

News reports in Jenin said that the occupation forces have incurred into the city and its camp. Witnesses said that the Israeli campaign which was confronted strongly by the Intifada gunmen was concentrated in Abu Dheir mountain where the Israeli soldiers are besieging houses and breaking into them amid intensive fire under pretext of searching of what it called "wanted."
