Morocco-Spain relations are extraordinary, Spanish fm
Morocco-Spain, Politics, 8/19/2003
Spanish minister of foreign affairs, Ana Palacio, said she is "enormously satisfied" over Morocco-Spain relations that are of an "extraordinary quality."
Palacio told "El Pais" newspaper in the Sunday edition that Morocco cannot be considered a "problem" for Spain, hailing the quality of relations between the Moroccan and Spanish societies. These relations were maintained in the "worst moments" during the absence of the two countries ambassadors who were called back by their respective governments, she noted.
The two neighboring countries decided to "review things" because "we have a future that ties us closely," Palacio went on, underscoring that Morocco is "a key actor" in the south of the Mediterranean and that Spain has the same vocation in the European Union given its interests in the Mediterranean.
"It is crucial and quite logical for Morocco and Spain to have relations of an extraordinary quality, and should I say, relations of complicity," the Spanish official added.
