Extremist jailed for 10 years, two defendants acquitted

The court of appeal of Casablanca sentenced Monday a member of Salafia Jihadia, a banned extremist group, to 10 years in prison and acquitted two defendants.
Ali Allam was handed down a 10-year sentence for conspiracy in preparing and perpetrating terrorist acts, non-denunciation, complicity in forgery of administrative documents, holding public meetings without prior authorization and belonging to a non-authorized association.
Said Naim and Redouane Hor, who were prosecuted for setting up a criminal gang to perpetrate terrorist acts, were acquitted by the same court but were fined 5,000 DHs (US $500) for belonging to a non-authorized association and for holding public non-authorized meetings.
