Libya reforms in human rights and the penal code

The secretariat of the general peoples committee for justice and public security in Libya "has saluted to the al Qathafi International Foundation for Charitable Societies for the huge efforts it is exerting towards enhancing human rights at the world level and its attention to the human rights issue within the Great Jamahiriya," the official news agency reported yesterday.

The report said "The secretariat of the committee issued a statement yesterday confirming that it is in constant contact and cooperation with this charitable foundation and other similar societies to handle numerous issues and to clarify matters concerning the human rights in the Great Jamahiriya. It is totally aware of all efforts being taken in this respect."

The report added "The secretariat indicated that it is committed to law, the principles of the great green human rights charter in the era of the masses and it is tackling any transgression and investigating by the competent judicial authorities."

The report added "The committee indicated that the judicial committee in charge of studying and reforming the Libyan penal code has recently completed its mission and this project represents a revolution in the judiciary in all areas of justice equality and rights."

The report added "The general peoples committee for justice and public security confirmed in its statement that (the Libyan) society is the most transparent society as everything is crystal and known to all and all actions are peoples actions."
