Separatists' camps: forced exile of kids, blackmail to break up families
Morocco-Algeria, Politics, 8/12/2003
The forced exile of children by Polisario secessionist group is part of a global policy for a political blackmail and for the breaking up of families to make them wait for the possible unlikely return of their kids, Bouchaib Yahdih, former Polisario cadre, said.
Yahdih, former attache to Polisario's representation in Europe, told the Moroccan TV channel "2M" the separatist group sends children to exile to make their mothers wait for their return. He added that these children may return but only after losing any cultural link with their society and maybe even with their family.
Expatriation operations are made through Algeria or Madrid, he noted, adding that the children are transported from Tindouf (southern Algeria) to the Algerian capital then to Madrid, Cuba and former Yugoslavia but the majority of them are currently in Madrid.
The former Polisario cadre recalled Algeria and Spain' s involvement in all the acts that are hostile to Morocco and the coordination between the two countries for this purpose.
Yahdih insisted that setting up Polisario camps is in contradiction with the universally recognized protocol on refugees which stipulates that the camps be grouped in the same region which is a condition not respected by Polisario in its sequestration camps since the distance separating some of them equals 170 Km.
The former Polisario official, who used to accompany foreign delegations to the camps, underlined that the data given to the delegations did not conform to reality since the persons they met are selected and the program of the visit is prepared beforehand. He recalled, in this vein, the incident that took place in 1979 with the Dutch parliamentary delegation which ended up leaving the camps after it discovered the truth.
The Polisario former official returned to Morocco in response to the royal call, "the homeland is clement and merciful," that urges the secessionist group advocates to regain their homeland without being subjected to sanction or questioning. Three other Polisario former cadres recently returned to Morocco.
In the same connection, Saadani Maa El Ainaine, previously sequestered in Tindouf camps, told the Moroccan TV channel "2M" about the plight of people living in the camps, saying that her father was killed before her eyes as she was 6 years old by a Polisario leader and that she was then expatriated to Cuba, where she spent 15 years without identity and without receiving the least tidings from her family.
