Nights in Morocco's hotels rise by 35 percent

Nights spent in accommodation establishments participating in the first operation of "Kounouz Biladi," promotion campaign of national tourism extending from April 14 to May 18, increased by 35 percent compared to the same period in 2002.

Nights part of Kounouz Biladi totaled 16,000 for 104 accommodation establishments. As for nights of interior tourism in general, they were estimated at 66,476 compared to 46,201 in the same period in 2002, that is a 44 percent increase.

Some 67 voyage agencies took part in Kounouz Biladi operation along with four major transport agencies in the country, namely the domestic airliner (RAM), ONCF, CTM and Regional Airlines.

Kounouz Biladi, which is destined to people living in Morocco, consisted in a 50 percent reduction on accommodation and transport and aimed to rise by 20 percent the volume of nights to develop interior tourism.
