Kuwait-Palestine, Politics, 8/6/2003
The Kuwaiti prime minister Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah stressed yesterday that Kuwait welcomes the visit of the Palestinian prime minister Mahmoud Abbas to Kuwait "at any time."
Sheikh Sabah replying to a question on whether Kuwait had approved Abbas's request to visit Kuwait said "Kuwait welcomes Abu Mazen at any time."
Yesterday, the Kuwaiti daily al-Rai al-Am said that Abbas will visit Kuwait before the mid August in the framework of a Gulf tour which will cover also Saudi Arabia. Abu Mazen's visit is considered the first for a Palestinian official at that level since the first Gulf war in 1990.
