Maher, Muasher rule out return back of the two ambassadors to Israel
Egypt-Jordan, Politics, 8/6/2003
Egypt and Jordan announced yesterday that time is not proper for the return back of the Egyptian and Jordanian ambassadors to Israel.
The Egyptian foreign minister Ahmed Maher said following talks with his Jordanian counterpart Marwan Muasher, on the sideline of the Arab follow up committee at the Arab League in Cairo "there is nothing concerning the return back of the Egyptian ambassador to Israel. I had said earlier that Egypt will take this decision at her own will and when it sees matters need so, and there is a reason that makes Egypt takes such a step." Maher added "this step was not taken yet and it is not expected to be taken under the current conditions."
Muasher who raised speculations by the end of July on the intention of the two states to discuss the return back of the ambassadors, stressed that "timing " depends on the consultations with Egypt and the other Arab states.
Both Maher and Muasher announced that achieving progress in peace is a prior condition to resuming complete relations with Israel.
