Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa discussed in Cairo yesterday with the European Union Envoy for the Middle East peace process Marc Oti the latest developments in the Middle East particularly in the Palestinian territories and means of moving the peace process forward as well as the EU' s role in this regard.

Following the meeting Moussa warned against the dangerous situation on the Iraqi arena calling for the necessity of conjoining the Arab and international efforts to extend aid to Iraq.

Moussa stressed the importance of coordination between the Arab League and the EU to move the peace process in the Middle East based on the international resolutions and the land for peace principle.

Meantime, the Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Maher and Oti discussed today the developments in the Palestinian territories and the important role of the EU to achieve just and comprehensive peace in the region.

Maher appealed to the international community and in the top of it the United States, EU, Russia and the United Nations to practice pressure on Israel to commit itself to the international legitimacy, implement its commitments of the roadmap and to exert more efforts for achieving peace in the Middle East.
