Al-Assad meets with Oti, Moussa

Syria's President Bashar Al-Assad received on Sunday Marc Oti, the European Union envoy to the Middle East, and an accompanying delegation.

Al-Assad welcomed the new envoy and gave him an idea about the standing cooperation between Syria and the European Union in all fields, particularly regarding peace process.

The president expressed hope for Europe to play an effective role that complements its active presence in order to realize just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East.

He pointed out that Syria has no conditions for peace but the implementation of the international resolutions and land for peace formula.

For his part, Oti underlined the European Union's appreciation over Syria's stances regarding peace process and her exerted efforts for realizing security and stability in the region.

Oti stressed the European Union's desire to cooperate with Syria regarding the Middle East peace process and reaching a Syrian-European partnership that will be in the interest of both sides.

The latest developments in the region, particularly in Iraq and in the occupied Palestinian territories were also reviewed during the meeting.

President Al-Assad also received Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa on the situation on the Arab arena, the inter-Arab relations in addition to means of developing the league's performance.
