Supreme court rejects request to grant expatriates voting right
Morocco, Judicial, 8/2/2003

Morocco's Supreme Court rejected Thursday the request submitted by 4 Moroccan associations established in France related to granting Moroccans living abroad the right to vote and to run for Moroccan elections, a legal source said.

The public prosecutor had said the Moroccan electoral law only grants to immigrants the right to vote during referendum ballots and that only nationals living in Morocco have the right to vote in other local and legislative elections.
