Baghdad: a new attack at an oil pipeline

A new attack targeted yesterday an oil pipeline near Beji refinery, 200 km to the north of Baghdad.

The official in charge for the oil pipelines network which feeds the refinery, Majeed Ma'mouni, stressed yesterday that the operation targeted the pipe which links Karkouk oil fields to Beji refinery. He expressed his conviction that it is a "destruction act." A high ranking official at Beji police said that the explosion of the pipe resulted from "an attack."

However, the spokesman for the occupation forces, Tom Brodon, did not define the reason of the explosion. He said that "fire is set ablaze in the pipeline near the refinery É and we are still trying to close the file and control the fire."
