Saddam eulogizes his two sons, vows revenge; occupation forces arrest 12 of Saddam associates
Iraq-USA, Military, 7/30/2003
The toppled Iraqi President Saddam Hussein yesterday eulogized his two sons Ode and Qusai and his grandson Mustafa considering them "the guests of the almighty god.. where paradise.. is." He vowed to revenge for their death.
Meantime, the American occupation forces in Iraq said they investigate 12 suspects, including one of Saddam's most authentic guards, arrested yesterday during breaking in operations against Takrit. The forces are also inspecting documents found with them that will help to tighten the belt around Saddam Hussein.
In a taped broadcast by al-Arabia TV yesterday, Saddam said that his two sons "were martyred following a brave fight with the enemy lasted for 6 hours," adding "thanks are to God for what he decided on us and having honored us by their martyrdom." He added addressing the Americans that the "principles of the rightfulness are rising high.. As you had killed Ode, Qusai, Mustafa and another militant with them, however, all youths of our nation and the youths of Iraq are Ode, Qusai and Mustafa in the Jihad."
The American Col. Steve Russel, who led yesterday's breaking in operations in Takrit said that the documents including identifications and records for the Baath Party that help to complete the picture on the Saddam Hussein's hiding, which the American army stressed he would have almost arrested in two occasions last week.
An American official said the occupation forces launched 58 raids during the past 24 hours in an attempt to arrest the toppled President during which 176 persons were detained.
American officers said that among the detainees in Takrit yesterday was Adnan Abdullah Obeid al-Musallet who was one of the personal and very trusted guard for Saddam. The Americans think the al-Musallet, one of Saddam's cousins has information on the places for likely hiding of Saddam Hussein.
Among other detained persons in the same raid were the security official for Saddam' Hussein's palaces in Takrit, Daher Zayana, and the leader of Fedayee Saddam in Takrit, Rafe Adham Ibrahim al-Hassan, who is also one of the cousins of the toppled Iraqi president.
