After four months of suspension and weeks of resuming trade, Syrian train transport commodities to Iraq, today

Iraq and Syria resume today the railway trips to transport commodities between the two states, following a five month suspension, amid reports on the flow of the Syrian commodities to Iraq with an implicit American consent.
The media official at the Iraqi general railway company, Khamis al-Rubei', said yesterday that "trips of the railways will be resumed between Iraq and Syria as from today ( Wednesday) by the arrival of a train for transporting commodities from Syria to Iraq following several months of suspension because of the war." The trip of the said train will be the first of its kind since the eruption of the war against Iraq on March 20 this year.
He added that a celebration will be held today in Rabei'a area ( on the Syrian- Iraqi borders) where the station will receive the first train for commodities from Syria to Iraq and officials of the Iraqi company and officials from the Syrian railway company will be there.
Al-Rubei disclosed that there is a Turkish delegation currently visiting Iraq and had started meeting yesterday to discuss the project of operating the train lines between Iraq and Turkey. He added "we have proposed convening an Iraqi, Turkish, Syrian tripartite meeting to discuss various issues including prices, dates and number of trains which will be used for transportation."
Syrian traders and industrialists said they export, since weeks, foodstuffs, electricity generators, refrigerators and certain goods which used to be at once banned, including large amounts of satellites systems and receivers to Iraq, without risk." chairman of the federation of the Syrian chambers of commerce, Rateb al-Shallah said that the "Americans do not interfere in these matters," adding "there are direct contracts between the business men in each country."
