Syria: recirculation of al-Doumari
Syria, Politics, 7/29/2003

The Syrian ministry of information has decided to recirculate the al-Moumari weekly which is published by the renowned Syrian Caricaturist Ali Farzat. The weekly was licensed more than two years ago.

Although al-Doumari was recently exposed to financial problems and stopped from publication except for subscribers, it has come up with a new version highlighting important issues such as" the media in Syria" as it publishes "a media file in Syria" which is expected to be the toughest in criticism on the Syrian media that targets the main Syrian media representatives.

The Syrian ministry of information had won the round with the Doumari, as it permitted the circulation of the paper, while its owners were preparing for the decision to have their publication censored by the authorities. The weekly comes back with the circulation of 5,000 copies for the recent issue.
