Syrian - Turkish trade cooperation

The 6th session of Syrian - Turkish Joint Committee of the vocational, scientific, economic and commercial cooperation meetings started in Ankara yesterday. Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Ghassan Rifaee chaired the Syrian delegation and Turkish State Minister Corshad Tousman chaired the Turkish one.
The Turkish minister indicated that the joint committee will discuss the economic and commercial relations between Syria and Turkey. It will set up joint investment projects.
He stressed that Turkish government pays big interest to enhancing and developing the bilateral relations on all levels.
He stressed the necessity of signing an agreement for free trade between Syria and Turkey as soon as possible to increase trade and enhance the economic and commercial relations.
For his part, al-Rifaee stressed that developing the commercial relations between Syria and Turkey is considered a priority. He indicated that though the efforts were exerted, the meetings and fairs which were held, the size of this exchanges are still too small and doesn't reflect the real potential of what can be achieved.
