Cairo, Amman agree in principle to return back their ambassadors to Tel Aviv
Egypt-Jordan, Politics, 7/28/2003
The Jordanian foreign minister Marwan Muasher said yesterday that Cairo and Amman agree "in principle" to return back their ambassadors to Tel Aviv. He linked that to Israel's realization of "tangible results on the ground." Muasher also did not set a date for their return.
Muasher explained that this matter was the subject of discussion between King Abdullah II and President Hosni Mubarak in al-Aqaba yesterday. He added that "Jordan and Egypt agree, in principle, to return back their ambassadors to Tel Aviv, but we also want tangible results on the ground.. But as for their return, there is, in principle no opposition to that."
Meantime, the Egyptian foreign minister Ahmed Maher had denied earlier that Cairo will shortly take a decision on the return back of its ambassador to Israel "There is no nearby decision to this effect."
